GENERAL SUMMARYThis Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting with the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of the nursing director or designee.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIESPrimary responsibilities are the basic job duties that an employee must be able to perform.
This list of responsibilities is intended to be representative of the duties performed within this classification.
The omission of a function does not preclude management from assigning duties not listed if such duties relate to the position.
oPrepare patients for examination and treatment.
oInterview patients, measure vital signs, record health histories and chief complaints.
oDraw and collect blood samples and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis.
oProvide other medical treatments ordered by providers such as audiograms, vision checks, administration of oral vaccines, and EKGs.
oStock immunization inventory, maintain temperature logs, order immunizations, create and provide monthly reports to the Department of Health.
oProcess medication refills, faxes, and charts.
oCompile information regarding patient care, such as the number of patients served, appointment cancellations, and no shows.
oClean and stock all areas of medical clinic including cleaning, sterilizing, and packaging of medical instruments.
oMaintain clinic equipment such as refrigerator temperatures, machine calibration, and autoclave flushing.
oWrite and submit information for monthly newsletter.
oPerform medical records duties such as copying and processing Release of Information forms, retrieving and filing charts, processing PCCs, maintaining medical records.
oProvide staff administrative support and back-up including answering phones, taking messages, conveying information from providers to patients, processing mail, greeting and checking-in patients, filing, and appointment scheduling.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEducation and ExperienceoGraduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants and two years' experience as a Medical Assistant.
oMedical Assistant license with the State of Washington.
oMust have current CPR Certification and TB TestingoMust have a valid driver's license and be insurable under the Tribe's policy.
SUPERVISIONThis position does not supervise.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
