Dental Clinic Administrative Manager

NATURE OF WORK:
This position is responsible for providing oversight and administrative management of dental clinic operations and for direct supervision of ancillary staff of the Nisqually Tribal Dental Clinic.
The Dental Clinic Administrative Manager ensures compliance with policies and procedures, evaluates the quality of staff work, develops reports and budgets, and works to meet established goals.
DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
oPlan and assign work, recommend selection, evaluate performance, train and develop, and take corrective actions for assigned dental clinic staff.
oRemain up to date on applicable laws and regulations in order to keep the program in compliance; ensure required credentialing and certifications are maintained.
oProvide oversight and management for tribal dental clinic operations including dental program planning, implementation, coordination and evaluation of services, policies and procedures in cooperation with the Nisqually Tribal Dentists.
oCollaborate with the Business Office for referral processes and billing issues.
oParticipate in health services planning through interaction with Tribal Health Board and planner as directed.
oProvide fiscal planning, development, review, monitoring, management and compliance of dental program annual budgets and grants, as assigned.
oManage fiscal operations such as purchase orders, requisitions, and invoices.
oIdentify staff development needs, research and select solutions, lead team building activities, and coordinate necessary trainings.
oManage work schedules and organize specialty contractors and events.
oRepresent the facility at governing boards and meetings as directed.
oTrack performance measures and other programmatic data as required.
oCommunicate regularly with members of the dental staff and department heads.
oWork as a liaison to off reservation providers in the development of health care referral network for tribal clinic.
oOversee Quality Management Plan (QMP) in coordination with the staff Dentists; responsible for quality improvement and ensuring compliance with all Federal, Tribal, State managed care standards, regulations, policies and procedures.
oAttend annual conferences and trainings as needed to remain up to date on current dental clinic processes and standards.
oImprove efficiency and quality in the delivery of healthcare services.
oResponsible for contacting, working with IT and Electronic Dental Records (EDR) technicians, and managing Help tickets for dental program for timely resolution.
oPerform other duties as assigned.

oKnowledge of and sensitivity to Native American customs, traditions, and culture.
oKnowledge of Indian Health Service programs.
oKnowledge of dental clinic, Tribal, and other related policies, procedures, and systems.
oKnowledge of dental clinic operations.
oKnowledge of applicable laws regarding the practice of dental.
oKnowledge and skill in personnel supervision and management techniques and principles.
oKnowledge of patient safety practices and standards.
oKnowledge of Quality Improvement processes and methods.
oKnowledge of HIPAA and other laws, rules, and regulations related to the security and confidentiality of data.
oKnowledge of electronic health records, systems, and related applications.
oKnowledge of dental reimbursement regulations and requirements.
oKnowledge of dental prescription processing software systems.
oKnowledge of accounting and budgeting principles and budget management.
oKnowledge of and skill in using common computer software including MS Excel.
oKnowledge of program, policy and procedure development.
oSkill in planning, organizing, delegating, and supervising.
oSkill in gathering and interpreting data.
oSkill in verbal and written communication.
oSkill in developing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, the community, staff, and external agencies.
oAbility to research and prepare reports or other correspondence as required.
oAbility to maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
oAbility to provide excellent customer service and exercise tact and good judgement in all contacts.
MINIMUM
Qualifications:
oAssociate's Degree in health administration, business administration, or closely related field.
oFour years' recent related work experience.
oOR a comparable combination of approved education and/or recent related work experience.
oExperience in dental clinic operations, budget management, policy and procedure development, and program development.
oExperience leading, managing, and supervising staff.
